Figuring It Out As I Go
Where I am starting from
I wasn’t 100 percent sure where I was going to go with this blog and my idea of a company called Adrenaline Torch Studios. I knew if I started working on things, I would figure it out as I went. I’ve spent a lot of time over the years learning and reading about what to do to start a business. I have even tried out a couple things with varying degrees of success.
I did graduate with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a focus on marketing and finance. I did learn how to do a variety of things. Getting started with Adrenaline Torch Studios I can apply the different lessons I did learn in my time.
I did start a blog back in post-secondary with some success. In the past there have been a couple other ventures that I started and then abandoned. The biggest thing I’ve learnt is that you must keep working at things to figure it out and to get to where you want to go with your goals.
Inspirations
I’ve always enjoyed books. Growing up I talked about wanting to be an author. It was seemed more of daydream fantasy than something to work towards. I grew up with Harry Potter, Artemis Fowl, Leif (Deltora Quest) and many other characters. In the past few years, I started to look at other authors with more interest. Arthur Conan Doyle, Ernest Hemingway, Brent Weeks, and Stephen King as people who wrote until they became the great authors that we k
Punk culture has been an interest of mine since I was a teenager. Fitting since that is typically when most people hit their rebellious phase present company included. One part of the culture that I find applicable is the DIY part of it. You make it as you go. The more you do it, the better you get at it.
I love music and have since I was a kid. I couldn’t count the hours I’ve spent listening to certain albums on repeat. I used to wake up to Queen’s Greatest Hits. I think it was six months of waking up to Bohemian Rhapsody.
I have a pretty good life. There are things that I would like to change. My day job is one of those things. A big motivating factor for creating Adrenaline Torch Studios and everything that comes with it.
Adapting New Tools
I grew up reading books and loving it. It has been great for learning new skills. I am happy that there are so many people who’ve taken the time to write down their experiences and skills. It’s a great way of learning from great individuals if you don’t have the chance to learn from them personally. There are lots of great people who have passed on but their lessons still remain. relevant.
Learning from your peers is a great way to improve your skills. I spend a lot of time reading. This is to learn how to become a better writer. There are several great ideas that are out there and looking for them means I can adapt some of them to my own material.
Experience
As someone who has played a lot of video games, I’m familiar with starting at level one. Most games you start with nothing more than the basics. As you battle bosses, complete quests, and solve puzzles you level up. As you level up things become more difficult. This can happen in your day-to-day life as well. Sometimes it is more noticeable than others. If the new project you want to work on means a lot to you, you might have to accept you are starting at level one.
As you start your new path it can be overwhelming. A way you can break it down for yourself is as if you are working on quests. There are your main objectives, your side quests and then your fun goofing around activities that don’t really get you anything outside of pure enjoyment.
The more experience you gain the more self-confident you become. You might be self-confident in one area of your life but not another. It can take time for that self-confidence to transfer. The more often you work at what you do the better you can become.
No Time like the present
The second you start something new is the time when you will have the least amount of experience. You might be bad when you start, but the more you work on your craft the better you will get. It is very rare to start something new and be fantastic at it. You might have some natural skill, or it might come easier to you. That doesn’t mean you
Time doesn’t stop for anyone. There is no pausing it or reversing it. You will have to continue living regardless of the choices you make. If you want to get farther ahead you must make the decision to get things done now.
You can always go back to what you have been doing. Depending on what you start you may have devoted some time and resources to something new. If it doesn’t work out it’s not the end of the world. That is where it can be handy to test things out before you jump in headfirst.
What comes next
I am going to continue writing and working on building this company. It is getting to be too much fun to not work on it continuously. I’ve succeeded in a lot of things and have helped lots of others hit their goals. It's only a matter of time before this becomes a success as well.
