In the Grind

Well, here we are with another blog post. Coffee, music, laptop and zero ideas. Maybe I’ll write a sassy look at what is up and coming? (Why does it need to be sassy? We’re not sure) Yes, I often refer to myself as we. I have an alter ego that appears at times and takes over. I don’t usually question what happens because it lets me recover until I need to be a functioning member of society, yet again.

Write, write, write, come up with ideas, come up with ideas, come up with ideas. The repeated pattern of making it all come together. It looks like work but at some point, you feel as if it’s just another way of passing time. It is beneficial but at times it feels more of a simple annoying task that never ends. Other tasks that are endless: doing laundry, doing dishes, cleaning everything.

Get frustrated with what you’re working on and keep going. This becomes a war in your mind. Your mind is an extremely powerful force that can render you useless in a very short amount of time. You must force it to work to your own demands. You must educate it to help you make better decisions. Push the odds in your favour by constantly putting yourself in a position to make the right calls even when you don’t want to.

Motivation can be fun and be what you think you need. Unfortunately, it’s usually discipline that we need to become the best possible version of ourselves. We need to be forced or accept the fact that we need to go to a certain place and do the work consistently to get results that we want. That constant execution of work is what helps us develop our skills to give us the results we desire.

Prime yourself. I am one who loves to just get started with things. At times, that doesn’t work. At times you must warm up before you get started. Writing this post is the first one in a while where I’ve had to work on a different project before starting to write this post. The warmup helps get you in the mindset to work and helps you get to doing better work quicker.
